Nashville's Best Rooftop Bars
When Hunter and I go out to unwind we usually like to stay pretty low key. Lucky for us Nashville has an amazing rooftop bar scene. Over the past few years this city has grown like crazy and we have tried our hardest to keep up with all of the new restaurants and bars that seemingly pop up out of no where. This week we decided that we would go check out the newly renovated L27 Rooftop Bar at the top of the Westin Hotel before Hunter left for Memphis Fashion Week. Below are my two cents as well as a few of my other favorite Nashville rooftop bars.
When you walk into L27 it is immediately striking. The dark walls and and intimate setting make you feel like you are at a private club where couples come to enjoy a nice relaxing night out. You turn the corner into the bar and you are immediately greeted by high ceilings and a stunning open air view of downtown Nashville. With tables inside and out scattered around the pool, there isn't a bad place to sit. There are cabanas that surround the whole rooftop and it almost makes you feel like you are at a pool in Miami. My favorite thing besides the view was the unique tile they used on the floor that they carried up onto the side of the bar. That subtle detail adds so much feeling to the vibe they created.
The Cocktails
We sat in one of the cabanas and began looking at the drink menu. I love bourbon so the first item on the cocktail menu stood out to me. The Glasshouse is a bourbon cocktail sweetened with pure maple syrup and accented with lavender & cardamom bitters. It was one of the best bourbon cocktails I have ever had. Hunter had the Cucumber Lemon Julep and it was so good. She typically tries to stay away from sweet cocktails (and most end up being too sweet) but this drink was perfect! I've been wanting to try more tequila cocktails so I also had the Bee Sting which is made with honey syrup and garnished with a jalapeno slice and it was so refreshing. If you are a tequila drinker I definitely advise trying this.
The Food
To start we split the Mashed Avocado. It was a take on guacamole topped with a small amount of salsa and feta and served with warm crispy pita bread. Since I have been on keto this was the first bit of bread I have had in 6 weeks and needless to say it was heaven. I decided since I had that bread I might as well stick with the theme and I ordered the Steak Knife Burger. Hunter stuck with her usual and got the Arugula Salad which was prepared perfectly. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and there were pieces of pickled lemon (never tried that before) and it added such a great citrus note to the salad.
Other Rooftop Bars
After having such a great night at L27 I think its safe to say that I have a new favorite rooftop bar. The friendly atmosphere and genuinely nice staff made for a great date night. A few of my other Nashville favorites are L.A. Jackson on top of the Thompson Hotel in the gulch, Rare Bird in Noelle, a chic new hotel above the famous Printer's Alley. If we are looking to have a broadway night we typically end up at ACME Feed & Seed, CrazyTown, FGL House or AJ's Good Time Bar. What I love about these bars is that most of them have different themes on each floor so you can catch some good live country music, current top 50 and karaoke all in one bar.
